Blaming is never an effective way to enhance a relationship or even oneself. When I am blaming someone else, it is only because there is something about myself that I am not okay with. Blaming helps keep you stuck, because it diverts attention away from the one person we can change - ourselves - and towards one we cannot, the other person.
So does that mean that we must endure unacceptable behavior from others? Isn't the only alternative to blaming others accepting blame for ourselves?
No!
Blaming ourselves is just as ineffective as blaming others. The problem is with the very concept of blame itself.
